Sudbury's all-ages music scene gets a very special offering May 9 at the Adanac Ski Hill Lodge.

Regina's Rah Rah are taking to the Adanac Ski Hill Lodge as part of their first two month tour of Canada. The band features Erin and Joel Passmore of Sylvie along with friends Kristina Hedlund, Samra Sahlu, Marshall Burns and Leif Thorseth.

The group's dynamic is very laid back compared to other bands, according to Passmore.

"We're doing this because we really want to. It's tough to get everyone in the same space, but if you miss a rehearsal there's still a chance of three band members getting together and working on something. It makes it a little more relaxed."

Passmore said that the band is stoked to finally play in the great white north. It's their first show in Sudbury.

"As soon as we found out we were playing somewhere new, we were excited."

Joining Passmore and company at the ski hill lodge are Capreol band Eye Was an Ion.

They will be releasing an album entitled The EP at the concert. The duo of Ryan Kitchen and Mac Colasimone's vision for accessible energetic indie-rock is encapsulated in this eight-song offering mastered by prominent 1990s Sudbury producer Billy Bruhmuller.

Also on the bill are Mixylodian, an electronic pop group from Montreal. The group's latest release, the K EP, shows off an energetic and off-the-wall songwriting style that touches on frantic indie-rock and gentle electronic pop.

Masked Toronto noisemakers Two Bears will share the bill with their own brand of harsh, distorted noise rock. The duo will show off songs from their latest 12-song album, 8 Ice Cream Cones, the only way they know how.

Rounding up the performers list are locals Meadowlark Five, a carefully co-ordinated and textured seven-piece band featuring stunning female vocals working around odd time signatures and treacherous melodies composed by all-ages promoters Clayton Drake and Jon Danyliw.

The group will be playing the show as a part of a short stop at home in the midst of their most recent tour across Canada.

The show will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $7 at the door. Phone 522-1354 or e-mail [email protected] for more information.
