The Honourable Herménégilde Chiasson will be honoured by Francophone organizations around the city at an evening of creation.
Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick, doctor honoris causa of Laurentian University, Acadian writer and multidisciplinary artist, Chiasson has marked the history of arts and culture in French Canada.
Laurentian University's Arts d'expression program, in collaboration with Éditions Prise de parole, Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury, Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario, the departments of music and French Studies, and the Office of the vice-president (Francophone Affairs) of Laurentian University, invite the public to the event.
It will take place on Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. in the
Alphonse-Raymond Auditorium at Laurentian University. Admission
is free.

The evening's program will consist of the Canadian creation
premiere of No Limits, a Robert Lemay musical piece, readings
of poems and theatre excerpts, and an exhibition of artwork
from Chiasson.
No Limits will be interpreted by musician Serge Bertocchi, exceptionally arriving from France for the occasion. The texts used in the musical creation are from Chiasson's poetry book VOUS, a pretext to this audacious composition.
A selection of Chiasson's poems and excerpts from his plays will also be read by Sandy Fortier, Alain Lauzon and Miriam Cusson, with students from the Arts d'expression program. A talk from the famous artist will conclude the evening's program.
Alain Doom, professor in Arts d'expression signs the artistic direction, assisted by Cusson, director of the Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury.
A reception will follow. Chiasson's books will be sold and the author will be available to sign them.
