Canadian musical jesters Arrogant Worms return to Sudbury for a concert event at Laurentian University's Fraser Auditorium June 12.

"It's been a while," said Chris Patterson, Arrogant Worms' bassist and vocalist.

Patterson and fellow Worms Michael McCormick on guitar and vocals and Trevor Strong on vocals have played Northern Lights Festival Boreal twice within the last decade. Their most recent visit was in 2004.

"We were due for another visit. We've put out a couple of albums since the last time we were there."

Patterson said the band's latest tour is aimed at catching up with their fan base in cities they haven't been through in years as well as charting a new course through Ontario and hitting cities the band has yet to play.

Arrogant Worms are best known for their brand of silly and absurd humour with such songs as "Carrot Juice is Murder," "I Am Cow," "The Last Saskatchewan Pirate" and "Canada is Really Big" in their ever-expanding repertoire. Patterson said that the humour in their music has been great for bridging the generation gap between fans.

"We want kids to be able to come to our shows. It's hilarious to hear little kids voices sing along and it's quite sweet."

Having extensively toured since the early 1990s, the Arrogant Worms' music is still hitting new ears every year it seems.

"Some audiences know the jokes but they still treat them like they're their favourite songs. Some of our fans are bringing new people that they nudge when the funny parts are coming up."

Tickets are $29.50. Doors open at 8 p.m. Phone 674-8381 for more information.
