There's camps for kids of all ages and catering to different interests

Registration for August summer camp at the Art Gallery of Sudbury are still available, but filling up quickly.

Running until the end of summer, each week offers a different theme and artistic adventures. Each camp is divided by age group, and can accommodate students between two and 14 years old.

Here's a look at the August Summer Camp lineup:

Around the World with Clay – Aug. 14 – 18

Ages 4-6 and 7-12 

Campers will spend their week uncovering the wonderful world of clay and everything that can be created with such a diverse medium. Campers will learn handbuilding, decoration and casting techniques to create fossils, reliefs, mosaics and more. This camp is available in either full-days or half-days. Single day programs for this camp are available August 14, August 18 and August 19.

Guerilla Street Art Camp – Aug. 21 – 25

Ages 8-14

Elevating artistic expression and interest is easy in this innovative and exciting week long camp. Campers will learn graffiti art as well as mural techniques. These techniques will be put to the test as campers will work collaboratively in creating a graffiti work for an outdoor wall and an outdoor sculpture. This is a full-day camp. Single day programs are for this camp are available August 21, August 22, and August 24.

Meet the Group of Seven – Aug. 21-25

Ages 6-9

Join Art Gallery of Sudbury in this week-long camp to learn about the Canada’s most influential artists of all time; The Group of Seven. In this camp, children will get to experiment with a variety of drawing and painting techniques to create individual masterpieces. Single day programs for this camp are available Aug. 21, 22, and 24.

Junior Picasso – August 25

Ages 2-4 with caregiver

A day that you and your toddler can enjoy working on inspiring art projects on the gallery grounds. Learn a variety of artistic techniques and bring home the perfect artwork for the fridge door. 

Woodland Artists – Aug. 28 – Sept. 1

Ages 4-6 and 7-12

This week summer campers will be immersed in traditional Woodland imagery, style and symbolism. Kids will learn a variety of design elements as well as develop their own unique painting styles. Have some fun in the sun while learning about and art for that originated in Northern Ontario. This camp is available in either full-days or half-days. Single day programs for this camp are available August 28, August 30, and September 1.

The cost of full-week camps vary between $95 and $225, single day programs cost $40, and Junior Picasso day cost $12. Members of the Art Gallery of Sudbury receive a 10 per cent discount.
