A medical journalist who has written numerous books on
women's health issues is on a mission.
She wants to help women understand why they don't feel
well and how, by educating themselves about their bodies,
improving their diet and by taking nutrients, they can achieve
optimal wellness.
Lorna Vanderhaeghe's lecture is free this Tuesday, Sept. 19
at the Radisson Hotel in the Rainbow Centre at 7 pm.
It will be of interest to women who suffer hormone-related
problems such as painful periods, premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
and infertility, as well as  those who are experiencing
menopause.
Her talk will also be of interest to the men in their lives.
"I will be talking about how to increase energy by eating
the right foods and taking nutrients," says Vanderhaeghe.
Few people, medical professionals included, realize just how
poor diet, food processing, and environment factors such as
toxic estrogens found in cosmetics and household cleaners can
upset the balance of hormones in the body, she says.
At the same time, oral contraceptives and estrogen therapy
produce side affects such an increase in breast cancer, heart
attacks and strokes.
"Outside of a class in elementary school where girls
are taught about menstruation, most women are not aware how
their hormones work, when they can conceive, nor how to correct
imbalances safely using food and nutrients," Vanderhaeghe says.
When hormones are out of balance, it can lead to an
underfunctioning thyroid, adrenal exhaustion, awful menstrual
cycles, allergies or food sensitivities, uterine fibroids,
endometriosis, infertility and a host of other problems
including weight gain, she says.
She has written a book on the topic called An A-Z Woman's
Guide to Vibrant Health.
It is available online for free at

Vanderhaeghe has a master's of science in health studies and
a degree in biochemistry. She is the author of seven books on
how people can combine the best of mainstream medicine with
scientifically-backed nutrients and diet changes to achieve
optimal wellness.
Her books including The Body Sense Natural Diet; Get a Grip
on Arthritis; No More HRT; and the Immune System Cure will be
available for sale at the lecture.
Vanderhaeghe is well known because of her appearances on television programs such as Canada AM and her writing and editing for Alive magazine, and Healthy Living Guide.
