He also has more than 25 years of teaching experience, most recently at the prestigious Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. Alumni of the school include Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro and Melanie Griffith.
“I spoke to a few of his students, and they just say they've learned so much from him — he's just very, very helpful,” said MAS Acting Studios owner Melissa Smith.
“We're looking forward to having him.”
Wetherall's Sudbury workshop is open to those over the age of 16 with any level of acting experience.
He'll be covering vocal and physical training, Shakespeare text study, performance, acting/delivering a monologue, understanding motive/character, preparing for an audition, the art of acting and the business of acting.
Smith, a 22-year-old Sudbury native who only opened MAS Acting Studios in May, said she's excited Wetherall agreed to offer the workshop.
She said she'd heard he spends his summers at his cottage in the Sault Ste. Marie area, and reached out to him and asked if he'd be willing to offer his expertise to northerners.
“So far we've had a great response with our classes and with our workshops, and then to have somebody coming from New York with so much experience and so much to offer northerners, I'm very, very thrilled,” Smith said.
The class costs $240 plus HST, with a 10 per cent discount for ACTRA members. Lunch, snacks and handouts will be provided.
