Burger Wars: Ricky-Lee's Da Bomb Diner has Sudbury's favourite burger

Fundraiser brought in $8,000 for NEO Kids

Sudbury's Burger Wars was hosted by 38 local restaurants, where $1 from their signature burger sold during the month of August was donated to NEO Kids Foundation, raising a whopping $8,000.

"We were very excited about out 1st Annual Burger Wars event and the amount of restaurant participation, also our sponsors (Harvest King, Journal Printing, Larochelle Designs, Tron Consulting, Kora Mortgages, Jana Hospitality Consulting, KISS 105.3, 92.7 Rock) and the community that voted for their favourites," said Jana Schilkie, event organizer.

The online votes were tallied and Ricky-Lee’s Da Bomb Diner won favourite burger with the “Proud Canadian.”

The burger is described on the restaurant's menu in the following way: “Your choice of patty and garnish with peameal bacon, bacon strips, onion rings, mozza and cheddar cheese.”

In case you'd like to pay a visit to Ricky-Lee's, the restaurant is located at 1308 Lasalle Blvd.

“We would like to thank the organizing committee, sponsors, participating restaurants and of course the community for the tremendous support during the inaugural Burger Wars,” said Shanna Crispo, interim executive Director NEO Kids Foundation. 

“The funds raised will go towards supporting pediatric healthcare at Health Sciences North. We look forward to seeing (and tasting!) what you create next year!” 

Event organizers sent their thanks to all the Burger Wars participating restaurants including Aisle Nine, Alexandria’s, Apollo Restaurant, Bella Vita Cucina, Buzzy Brown’s, The Cedar Nest Décor Café, Cousin Vinny’s (both locations), Don Cherry’s, East Side Mario’s, Eddie’s Restaurant, Fionn MacCool’s, First Round Sports Bar, Gus’ Restaurant, Hourglass Restaurant, Kelseys, La Casa Mexicana, Lot 88 Steakhouse & Bar, MIC Canadian Eatery, Milestones, Montana’s, Mr. Prime Rib, Overtime Sports Bar and Grill, Oscar’s Grill, Peddler’s Pub, Ricky Lee’s Da Bomb Diner, Ripe Restaurant, Signatures Restaurant, Social House Kitchen + Bar, St. Louis Bar & Grill (both locations), Taphouse, Teklenburgs, The Motley Kitchen, Townehouse Tavern, Trevi Bar & Grill, Tucos Taco Lounge and Vespa Street Kitchen.
