Cambrian College is set to welcome over 4,400 new and
returning students to the 2007/08 school year.
In addition to registration day, which takes place on August
29, Cambrian has organized a number of events and activities at
the College's Barrydowne campus that are designed to
welcome new and returning students and set the stage for a
successful school year, said a news release.
Registration Day is Wednesday, August 29, from 10 am to 6 pm.
On registration day, students who have not registered online
can register for their program in person, buy their books, pay
their fees, meet the Students' Administrative Council,
visit booths set up by community agencies, and participate in
many activities that will help prepare them for the upcoming
academic year.
Getting Connected and Blastoff are on Thursday, August 30. At
the Getting Connected session, faculty will be offering
program-specific orientation sessions from 9 am to 11 am at
various locations in the college. The sessions will enable
students to meet their professors, ask questions about their
program and get more details about the courses within their
program area. At Blastoff, which will be held in the gymnasium
from 10:30 am to 1 pm, students will be able to learn more
about the college and the many support services Cambrian
offers.
Individual Timetable Guided Tours on Friday, August 31, from 10
am to 2 pm, students can participate in Timetable Guided Tours.
These tours are designed to make it easier for students to find
their classrooms and to learn about the campus. The tours will
be conducted by members of the student government and by
students working on campus.
Ask Me is a way of helping students become familiar with the
campus, all Cambrian staff will be wearing special Ask Me name
tags so that new students can easily get directions and ask
questions that they may have about the college. An Ask Me desk
will also be located in the main lobby of the college from
August 29 to September 10 and in the trades building from
September 4 to 10.
