Check out The Moonwalk at Science North on March Break

Sudbury’s two science centres are open for March Break, and there’s some new exhibits to check out

The City of Greater Sudbury is home to Canada’s second and eighth largest science centres, and both are offering new experiences along with some iconic classics for what is sure to be an extremely entertaining March Break.

At Science North, visitors will get to climb, fly, and even leap on the moon thanks to the special exhibition, Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits, and the new moonwalk experience on the fourth floor.

At Dynamic Earth, underground tours are running daily and there will be special activities that will be sure to keep the entire family entertained.

Science North and Dynamic Earth will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from March 8 through March 17.

Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits – Opens March 8

Developed and produced by Science North in partnership with the Ontario Science Centre, Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits is a special exhibition that invites you to challenge yourself as you jump, fly, dive, and climb while exploring some of the most extreme sports in the world.

In this action-packed exhibit, discover what it takes to maximize your potential while you explore the psychology and science behind the thrills and spills of adventure sports.

Explore the science behind athletes as you learn the physical strength and razor-sharp mentality that fuels their determination.

The Moonwalk at Science North – Open as of February 3

Science North’s Space Place on the fourth floor recently received an upgrade, spotlighting Canada's pivotal role in humanity's return to the Moon through the Artemis Program. At the centre of this transformative renewal is an immersive experience called The Moonwalk, which just recently opened at Science North. Visitors will experience what it’s like to walk on the Moon using a weight-offset harness and gantry to simulate the one-sixth of Earth’s gravity that exists on the Moon.

Sudbury.com editor Mark Gentili tried out The Moonwalk earlier this year. Watch our video above.

Dynamic Earth – Open year-round as of February 17

Over at Dynamic Earth, explore the exciting world of mining starting with The Mining Cage: A Journey Through History and prepare to walk thought the footsteps of Sudbury miners, past, present and future. On the surface, rediscover the science of rock and mineral polishing in the brand-new Lapidary Lab. Re-imagine mining with the extreme mining robotics workshop and re-ignite your curiosity about critical minerals and their everyday use.
