Local organizers of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure are inviting all new and returning team captains to a Team Captains' and Sponsors' luncheon at the Enrico Restaurant in the Caruso Club on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:30 a.m. (advance registration required).

"This is our way of saying welcome to this year's event and thank you for the ongoing commitment that our team captains and sponsors provide," said Pam Paradis-Sokoloski, run director for the 11th Annual Sudbury Run.

This year, the local organizers hope to have 1,500 people come out to Cambrian College on Sunday, October 5 armed with more than $250,000 in pledges.

"With close to 70 per cent of money raised locally by various teams, it is important that we do everything we can to help team captains," said Paradis-Sokoloski.

"We also appreciate the support of our local sponsors," said Manuela Vairo, local run co-director and sponsorship co-ordinator. "They help with everything from portable toilets to advertising support. Without their help, our success would be greatly diminished."

In addition to thanking team captains and sponsors, this kickoff luncheon also provides team captains with the information they need to get their teams organized and begin fundraising. Prizes and surprises will also be on hand.

Returning team captains and anyone interested in forming a team for the 2008 CIBC Run for the Cure in Sudbury is invited to attend the luncheon and should confirm their attendance by calling Manuela Penny, team co-ordinator at 670-2288 or email [email protected] .  Seating is limited and advance registration is required. Team captains are encouraged to confirm their attendance well in advance to avoid disappointment.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure is an extraordinary single-day experience that unites more than 170,000 Canadians in 55 communities across the country. 2008 marks the 17th year of this nation-wide event.
