Recording star Colin James rocked a large crowd from the inside of a CPR rail car Saturday evening.

James was one of many performers who celebrated the 2010 Olympics at Olympic Court, behind the house of Broadloom on Lorne Street.

The event, called the Spirit Train was organized by Canadian Pacific as their contribution to the promotion of the Olympics, said Breanne Feigel, manager of media relations for CPR.

"It is so important to support our Canadian athletes. That why we are holding these events," said Feigel.

The train stopped in Sudbury Saturday and featured northern Ontario talent as the C-Penny Band, a bluegrass group, aboriginal performers and topped off by Colin James with his high energy band at 6 p.m.

"We have been in Port Moody B.C., Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, and now here in Sudbury. From here we go to Mississauga and then Montreal. CP Rail is the official rail services sponsor. We are helping out by moving freight for the 2010 Games. But we also wanted to do some community programming," she said.

"So we, along with some other sponsors, thought it was a good idea to bring the Olympic Games to communities across Canada in the communities in which we operate. We have CP volunteers at the event and we are putting this on free for the communities we travel to for them to enjoy," said Feigel.
