Auditions will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the new school of education building on Athletic Building Road.

Rehearsals/classes will be held every Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the fall and winter terms.

The first rehearsal takes place on Thursday, Sept. 4. The concert band will give students a valuable vehicle to hone their large-ensemble performance skills while learning to play some of the best repertoire written for such a group.

Directing the band will be Prof. Sally Lesk, a secondary school music teacher recently retired from the Rainbow District board.

Lesk is an honours graduate from the University of Western Ontario and has led programs at the former Nickel District Secondary School, Sudbury Secondary School, Lasalle Secondary School, and most recently, Lockerby Composite School.

She's conducted concert bands, jazz ensembles, and vocal ensembles that have brought home awards from local competitions and festivals across Canada and the U.S.

For more information, contact Lesk at [email protected] or 675-1151, ext. 2520.
