Louise McCann, a senior sales director with Mary Kay cosmetics, is cruising around town in a brand new light-pink Cadillac.
"It's my eleventh free car," she said. "I've been with Mary Kay
for 21 years. You earn them for two years and then you get a
new one."
McCann said she could not have achieved the car without the 175
salespeople in her unit.
"We're all independent, I just happen to be a sales director
and a sales director has a unit of 26 or more," said McCann,
who has been a sales director since 1988.
This past year, McCann and her unit reached the $350,000
plateau for cosmetic sales.
"It takes a whole unit to earn a new car," she said.
The other member of McCann's sales unit will have to keep
working towards their own cars.
"Mary Kay just doesn't give cars out, you have to earn them. To
earn them you have to show that you're passionate about what
you're doing."
In addition to selling cosmetics, McCann said her group does a
lot of volunteer work as well.
"We're with the Look Good Feel Better program and that's for
women dealing with cancer," she said. "I do four seniors homes
and I go in and do facials and manicures once a month. I also
have worked with women in Cecil Facer Youth Centre and the
Elizabeth Fry Society."
