An event focused on living a less wasteful lifestyle called the Waste-Less Fair is being held at La Fromagerie Aug. 12.

Put on by La Fromagerie and Bash Events North, the event takes place 12-5 p.m. at the Elgin Street restaurant.

The event includes a variety of vendors as well as a round table discussion that tackles zero-waste lifestyle tips such as: DIYs, where to shop and new habits.

The round table discussion, starting at 4 p.m., will also teach guests on the impacts of textile waste and plastic waste on the environment, as well as the Last Straw Sudbury Project and Plastic Free Greater Sudbury Campaign.

Along with hosting the Waste-Less Fair, La Fromagerie is asking customers to bring along their own take-out containers when picking up groceries.

The restaurant carries a variety of meats and cheeses that are available to purchase to enjoy at home. When you bring along your own container, you receive 10 per cent off your grocery order.

La Fromagerie has also been straw free since opening day, setting a good example for other local businesses looking to cut their waste.

Pre-register your ticket to the Waste-Less Fair for $5 online and receive a bamboo toothbrush, or simply pay $3 at the door. Proceeds from the event go to support Plastic Free Greater Sudbury.
