Dave Gunning is not exactly a household name in Northern Ontario. However, music savvy Sudburians who are aware of Gunning's musical prowess quickly snapped up tickets to his Oct. 19 show at Respect Is Burning Supper Club. Due to this early sell out, a second show has been added in Sudbury for Oct. 18.

Greg Quill of the Toronto Star had this to say after seeing Gunning perform last year: "With his fourth CD, a richly crafted work of the highest musical and lyrical substance, Gunning confirms predictions that he is the next big thing in the True North Of Song, an artist as compelling, as assured and attentive to the every nuance of the writing and performing process as Lightfoot, Cockburn and Stan Rogers before him, and as gifted as these great composers with a potent sense of place and time, and wisdom beyond his years."

Gunning has won numerous awards on the East Coast on his way to solidifying his reputation as one of the finest artists in the Maritimes. He won the 2005 East Coast Music Award for Folk Album of the Year. He was also nominated as the ECMA Male Artist of the Year. He is also a multiple winner of Music Industry Awards for Album of the Year and Musician of the Year.

Gunning has appeared on national television several times over the past year and a half with the most recent airings taking place on CTV Good Morning Canada on the Labour Day weekend. In addition to extensive touring with country star George Canyon, Gunning cut his chops early on a Canada wide tour with Stompin' Tom. He will tour extensively with John McDermott in large venues throughout Ontario later this fall. The shows in Sudbury are part of a 16-date Ontario tour to support the release of his much-anticipated fifth album House For Sale.

Tickets for the Oct. 18 dinner concert are now on sale. There are only 66 tickets available. This is an all-inclusive dinner concert at Respect Is Burning. Tickets are $50. Call Bob at 523-6200 to purchase.
