Sudbury francophone musician Serge Monette is releasing his new album, “Monette - Le diable dans le corps,” which will be available worldwide April 7.

Album launch shows will be held in Ottawa at the Rainbow Bistro April 7 at 2 p.m. and in Sudbury at Lounge 390 April 13 at 2 p.m.

This album is Monette’s fifth. He tells the true story of his father, his mother and Northern Ontario heritage with a musical background of country-folk-rock.

Born in Sudbury and living in Ottawa, Monette is recognized for his personal texts which have a collective resonance. The texts of the album are written in a simple language and with poetry in prose.

For example, the song “Joe et Lola” is inspired by a true story which recounts the adventures of a couple who come to settle in Northern Ontario.

The song illustrates how difficult it is to work in the mines of Timmins. The song
“Le vieux coq de la Wolseley Bay Road” tells the true story of his father going from the family farm in Noëlville, to working in the mines of Sudbury and driving trucks for the lumber mills of Northern Ontario.

You can stream the album as of April 7 online here.
