Le Salon du livre du Grand Sudbury announced highlights of its upcoming third edition.
This year, 27 000 participants are expected at the city's hugely successful bi-annual French language book fair and festival. Over 70 writers and artists along with books from hundreds of publishing houses will be showcased in the event, presented in collaboration with over 80 partners.

As in past years, the event is to be held in early May, from Thursday, May 8 to Sunday, May 11. However a major change this year will be the venue. This year's Salon du livre will be held in facilities that will add new dimensions to a section of Sudbury's downtown core.

To accommodate the event, the Farmer's Market and its surroundings will be transformed to ensure convenience for all exhibitors and visitors. A 10,000 square foot festival tent will allow a thousand spectators to enjoy the festival's major stage events.

Headline acts for evening stage performances include superstar Cajun singer-songwriter Zachary Richard, The McDades and Andréa Lindsay. Two more major shows are in the works and will be announced at a later date.

The slogan for this year's festival, Grand ciel bleu par ici ("Big Blue Sky This Way"), is in fact the title of a book of poems by the late Robert Dickson, Sudbury's Governor General's Award winner who passed away last year.

This slogan's meaning resonates with the festival's honorary president, Brigitte Haentjens, who has become one of Montreal's foremost theater directors after having made her mark at Sudbury's le Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario.
