Radio-Chaud celebrated its 20th edition May 16, highlighting the musical and promotional talent of Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord students.

In front of hundreds of enthusiastic spectators, over 100 students from eight high schools in Noëlville, Sudbury, Longlac, Dubreuilville, Marathon and Elliot Lake presented their original compositions with passion and energy during the Grande Finale, held at Laurentian University’s Fraser Auditorium.

Radio-Chaud is not just a music competition, it is a platform where young people can express

themselves, develop and flourish. For 20 years, Radio-Chaud has attracted more than 1,500 participants and presented more than 140 original songs.

Throughout the school year, students were immersed in a series of workshops led by industry

professionals, allowing them to explore promotional and musical aspects of the artistic field. Guided by their creativity and determination, each school composed an original song reflecting the uniqueness and diversity of its community.

In the musical aspect, each school had the opportunity to create and compose an original song, as well as choose and rehearse a cover of a well-known song.

This part of the project was led by Jacques Grylls, a professional musician and former music teacher at École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier.

Both the original and cover songs were then recorded in a professional studio, providing students with an authentic and memorable experience in the music creation process.

In the promotional aspect, students were immersed in the world of multimedia, where they had the opportunity to create a poster and video related to their musical group and original song. With the guidance of industry professionals, students explored all aspects of advertising, developing their skills in graphic design and video production.

These students had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in planning and webcasting the Grand Finale, providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the technical and promotional processes of their artistic work.

Radio-Chaud is an intense and enriching experience for students from the eight participating high schools. During the final stage of the project, students excelled and were able to make long-lasting relationships with their peers creating unforgettable moments.

Students worked with industry professionals who prepared them to face challenges both on stage and behind the scenes.

An opportunity for these young talents to acquire the necessary tools to realize their aspirations and achieve their artistic goals.

Eric Robitaille returned as the host of the Grand Finale, adding a unique touch with his talent and charisma. Students received exceptional support from industry professionals.

Mehdi Cayenne, Jacques Grylls, and the technical team provided expertise in the musical aspect, offering personalized advice to allow each student to flourish at their own pace. William Burton, Bill Sanders, Dunstan Topp, and Jenn Herd guided students through all aspects of the promotional creation, from photography to lighting and stage management.
