Here’s a yummy way to raise $41,000 to help fight cancer

Fifth Amazing Taste Sudbury event draws 240 to fill their bellies and fill NCF’s coffers

The fifth annual Amazing Taste Sudbury event on Aug. 8 was a tasty way to raise $41,000 for the Northern Cancer Foundation.

Presented by Frübar Juicery, Amazing Taste combines a love of food, adventure and mystery into a unique fundraising endeavour. Four colour-coordinated teams were bussed to six mystery locations to sample the food of some of Sudbury’s best restaurants.

The rub — and the source of the adventure — is that the 240 participants didn’t know what they would be eating or where they would be going.

Guests enjoyed the fare for Spacecraft Brewing at Laurentian University’s McEwen School of Architecture; the tastes of Verdicchio Ristorante at 46 North Brewing; the classic Italian cuisine of the Copper Cliff Italian Club, at the Copper Cliff Italian Club; the dishes of Mama D’s at the William F. White International offices; the yummy flavours of Guilty Pleasures Bakeshop + Bar at Guilty Pleasures’ downtown location, and; the kitchen delights of The Hourglass, served at SRO nightclub downtown, with music by Big and Rich DJ Service.

“Sudbury’s food and drink scene gets more and more diverse every year. It’s great to be able to work with so many local businesses year after year for this event,” said Tannys Laughren, the executive director of the NCF. “It’s local businesses supporting local charity. The importance of that relationship can’t be stressed enough for us.”

The Northern Cancer Foundation thank the restaurants, hosts and participants for taking part, and extended thanks to its sponsors, Frübar Juicery (presenting Sponsor),  Reg Wilkinson’s, Voyageur Tire, RBC Renelli Frescura Wealth Management, Big and Rich DJ Service, Trudell Medical Marketing Limited, and Medicor Research Inc.
