To celebrate the grand opening of Cranky Joe's in Hanmer, owner
Rob Ferrucci has arranged a weekend extravaganza. He has
invited the original members of Canadian rock band Honeymoon
Suite to perform.
"I always try to have different ideas to get people to come
in," Ferrucci said. "I'm looking forward to having Honeymoon
Suite playing here."
Honeymoon Suite will be playing Friday, Sept. 7, with an
opening act by local classic rock cover band Trixx.
Ferrucci says this is just a taste of the kind of acts he hopes
to book at the Cranky Joe's Hanmer location (formerly Buddies)
in the Hanmer mall.
Honeymoon Suite was formed in the early 1980s, based out of
Niagara Falls, the honeymoon capital of the world.
The band's success came after winning at talent contest on
Toronto radio station Q107 with the song New Girl Now.
Honeymoon Suite released six studio CDs as well as a two-disc
compilation CD of singles, selected album tracks, and
unreleased material.
The band consists of vocalist Johnnie Dee, guitarist Derry
Grehan, keyboardist Ray Coburn, bassist Gary Lalonde and
drummer Dave Betts.
Tickets for the Sept. 7 show at Cranky Joe's in Hanmer have
been sold out. Tickets  for the outdoor tent are $5 and
still available. For more information, contact Cranky Joe's at
