If you have a fan of Thomas the Train (or just trains in general) in your household, the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre has a March Break event you may want to check out.
Sudbury Railway Modellers partners with the museum for a “day filled with family fun and excitement” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 18.
Explore model railways of various scales and meet club members to learn about model railroading as a hobby.
There will be small Thomas ride-on train for young children*** and a full Thomas model layout on display.
The museum will have a gift shop with all your favorite Melissa and Doug, Thomas and Tonka toys available for sale, as well as concessions.
"NORMHC's mandate is to promote the preservation of artifacts relating to the railroading, lumbering and mining history,” said Derek Young, operations manager at the museum.
"By partnering with the Sudbury Railway Modellers, we are able to create a fun activity that can connect visitors to railroading history as well as introduce them to the hobby."
General admission is $3 per person.
***The organizers of this event wish to clarify that the Thomas ride-on train being provided at this event is a small train suitable for young children, not a full-scale train.
