If you've checked your calendar today, you might have noticed it's Friday the 13th, which is considered to be an unlucky day in Western superstition.

There's at least one Friday the 13th every year, but it can occur up to three times in the same year.

This isn't the only Friday the 13th for 2018 — there will be another one on July 13th.

The fear of the number 13 has been given a scientific name — "triskaidekaphobia" — no, that does not mean a fear of Triscut crackers.

The superstition surrounding Friday the 13th may have arisen in the Middle Ages, originating from the story of Jesus' last supper and crucifixion, in which there were 13 individuals present.

Do you have triskaidekaphobia? Do you believe Friday the 13th is unlucky? Tell us why or why not in the comments section below.
