John Tory not afraid to say Merry Christmas

Northern Life's editorial staff must have been more naughty than nice in 2006. The only Christmas card we received from a politician came from Nickel Belt MP Ray Bonin. His card featured the Parliament Buildings.

Premier Dalton McGuinty's "holiday" card features a photo of his family, from left Karleen, Liam, the premier, his wife, Terri, Connor, Jamie, and dog Mikki. McGuinty's message is "Season's greetings and best wishes for 2007" in French and English. There are also greetings printed in small type in 30 languages including Feliz Natale and Buon Natale (Merry Christmas in Spanish and Italian.)

Premier Dalton McGuinty sent out 18,000 holiday cards but not one to us, while NDP leader Howard Hampton mailed 4,000 cards. Progressive Conservative leader John Tory only sent greetings to 2,500 party faithful, but at least his cards didn't try to be politically correct. They say 'Merry Christmas.'

Hampton's family, two children and wife Nickel Belt MPP Shelley Martel are pictured on the NDP card which featured the message of "Peace and Hope" in 18 languages.
