Shake yer shakers, Spidy Batz and Dem Bones are just a few of the tunes on Charlie Kert's rock 'em, sock 'em and hop all about kids CD called Rock Garden.

He is jamming with Sudbury area primary school students this week at his Little Fingers Music workshops.

After preparing one song at each workshop, students will then perform that song on stage with Charlie at the Halloween Jam 5 concert presented at Sudbury Secondary School's Sheridan Theatre Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.

All performers will dress in costume - either in a costume relating to the song they are performing or their favourite hero/book character or rock star.

There will be a mini-mosh pit for children to rock out and jam in if not involved in the interactive performance or when not on stage. The event promises to be a jam-packed, fun-filled extravaganza for kids of all ages.

Prizes will be awarded for participation and for the best Halloween masks. Teachers, parents and guardians are also encouraged to dress up.

Charlie is an arts educator and children's rock musician who receives support through both the Toronto and Ontario Arts Councils. He writes and performs music to make interactive learning games out of the primary music curriculum.

"The aim of the Little Fingers Music workshop is to cultivate an understanding and appreciation of music by linking child-friendly, universal themes with the Ontario music curriculum," explains Charlie.

This includes: call and response singing, chanting, dancing, moving to the beat, storytelling and using percussion instruments.

For non-performers/non-workshop teachers, tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults. They can be purchased through Chapters, and through some area school offices.

Due to a limited number of tickets available for the concert, it is recommended to purchase tickets in advance.

Charlie wishes to thank Chapters for generously supporting Halloween Jam 5. For more information please visit www.LittleFingersMusic.com or [email protected]
