Leaving an Art Impact

Artists on Elgin's juried show Art Impact is back and is now seeking contestants. Artists from Northeastern Ontario who create work in two and three-dimensional mediums are welcome to submit pieces for the show.

The concept came from an effort to celebrate the talent of Northern artists, while expressing appreciation for the Vale Living With Lakes Centre and the Cooperative Freshwater Ecology Unit, who have been longtime supporters of the art group. To illustrate these networks in visual ways, work submitted must reflect this year's theme of Elements — Earth, Fire, Wind and Water.

A jury of art community members will select as many as 65 pieces to be displayed for the duration of the show, which takes place in June at the Vale Living With Lakes Centre. The top three pieces will be awarded prizes, and one piece will be purchased by the Vale Living With Lakes Centre where it will be permanently displayed.

“This show provides an excellent opportunity for artists working in all mediums to get exposure through promotion of the show, connect with other artists from across the North, and also sell their work, as all 65 pieces that are chosen will be for sale,” said Shelby Ramm, marketing and sales manager for Artists on Elgin.

Artists interested in participating have until April 15 to submit their work. A full list of rules and registration packages are available online at www.artistsonelgin.ca. For more information, contact Ramm at 705-674-0415 or [email protected].
