The hills of Bell Park will be alive with the sound of music as the 11th season of the Gazebo Concert Series begins this Sunday, June 4.

The concert series has come a long way since the first notes sounded a decade ago.

Uncle Dunk and the Jackets will open the season at 7 pm. There will be concerts every Sunday until September, except during the Northern Lights Festival Boreal.

All concerts are located at the green-roofed William Bell gazebo, overlooking the main beach.
What if it rains that day?

"We never cancel," said Peter Schneider, founder and co-ordinator of the concert series. In case of rain, the concerts will be moved indoors, to the Older Adult Centre, 140 Durham St., in The Kinsman Room.

People attending the outdoor concerts should bring a blanket or chair, but if moved indoors, chairs are supplied. All the bands performing in the concert series are local. Each concert lasts between an 60 to 90 minutes and they are free of charge.

"I hope that it'll be as successful as the first 10 years," Schneider said. "I look for good family show."
Parking will be available at Bell Park and Science North.

Ricki and Julie Lamoureux will be performing this year.  While you may not be familiar with their name, most people in Northern Ontario know of Julie's father.

"Oh little ski-doo, it's up to you."  Does this line sound familiar?  Well, according to Ricki, Julie's father wrote Little Ski-Doo.  Ricki and Julie have been participating in the concert series since it first started.  Schneider will also be performing in the concert series; he is in the Swing Fever Big Band.

There have been some changes made to the band listing that is posted in the city's Leisure Guide.  Kevin Closs and Sudbury's Own Blues Brothers will switch dates and Konflit Dramatic will be replaced by Spirit of World Drum Circles.
