Children and parents can join the Sudbury Public Library for the TD Summer Reading Club 2008.

The program, which runs in July and August, offers free activities to encourage children to read and develop literacy skills during the summer. According to a news release, research has shown that the playful approach to these clubs is very effective in the increase of a child's reading skills.

To enrol a child in the program, contact one of the 13 library branches. Participants will receive a poster, stickers and an activity booklet full of ideas.

Special guests this year include The Funky Mamas, Sciensational Sssnakes, Canadian Raptor Conservancy, Ami Alain, Park Comedy, Zap l'extra-terrestre, The Magic of John Pert, Reptile Rainforest, Foolesque, Patches the Storybook Clown and the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs.
