The Lifestyle and Home Show at the Holiday Inn this Sunday
will be like something out of a magazine. Sudbury Living
magazine.
There will be more than 80 exhibitors as well as a series of
30-minute presentations on subjects such as health, finance and
food.
"Many Sudbury Living readers tell us they are amazed to learn
about products and services available in Greater Sudbury--a
vast geographical area--when they thought they would only find
them in Toronto," editor Vicki Gilhula says.
Decor exhibitors, health and fitness experts, chefs, fashion
and beauty consultants, and local artists are among the people
invited to participate. This type of event provides a chance to
talk one-to-one with experts to obtain information and advice,
Gilhula adds. "Sudbury Living magazine, which was
launched in the fall of 2007, has been a huge success. The next
step was to extend the brand with a lifestyle event that would
showcase the things our readers are interested in," says the
editor.
After a long winter, it will be great to get out, meet friends
and some new people. And perhaps have brunch or lunch at the
Holiday Inn," says event planner Tiana Di Pasquo. "Why drive
all over town, when you can get so much information in one
place?"
Tickets for the Sudbury Living Lifestyle and Home Show are $8.
Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Presentations will
start at 10 a.m.
"At 10 a.m. Dennis Centis of Centis Tile & Terrazzo
will talk about how to choose the right stone for your home.
Centis is president of the Terrazzo Tile and Marble Guild of
Ontario," says Di Pasquo. "He is followed by Jack Gallagher of
Investors' Group, who will talk about how to save and invest
money. At 1 p.m. Dr. Janni-Marie Doni of Koski Chiropractic
will have information on healthy living. At 2 p.m. chef Michael
Cullen will talk about food, and the final presentation will be
with Karen A. Harrott of Occasions by Anastasa. She will show
people how to make artistic floral arrangements with their
garden flowers."
The layout of the Holiday Inn, with its solarium and
multi-exhibition rooms is ideal for this event, says Di Pasquo.
Di Pasquo has considerable experience planning events such as
the Northern Ontario Business Awards, the Community Builders
Awards, and the Influential Women Awards luncheon, which will
be held in Sudbury June 4. "I asked around to find out what
people like and dislike about another shows and special events.
I asked people what their perfect experience would be and then
drew up a wish list," she says.
Sudbury Living publisher Patricia Mills says the response from
exhibitors has been positive.
"We are more than aware of the current market conditions...but
we also know people are interested in learning about new ideas
and trends. They want to support the local economy by shopping
locally, and they want to prepare for a much-anticipated spring
and summer by seeing what all the vendors have to offer."
There will be draws for lots of door prizes including a GE
Energy Star washer and dryer, and a six-month Watch, Surf &
Talk plan provided by EastLink. For more information on
