"Live every day to the fullest and don't dwell on something you can't do anything about," said Rose Poulton who turned 88 on March 20. "Wake up with a positive attitude and carry it through the day."

Poulton celebrated her special day with her great-grandson Jack, who turned one year old on March 23, as well as family and friends, at a brunch held at Bryston's on the Park.

Born in Verner, Poulton was raised and schooled in Sudbury and currently lives in the South End. Not only has she been in the workforce all of her life, she raised four sons, and now enjoys nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (all under the age of four).

In the war years, she worked as a secretary for the Department of National Defence, then onto the Medical Offices for INCO in the mid 1940's. She finished off her career working in the School of Social Work at Laurentian University, retiring in 1980.

Poulton has been active all of her life enjoying badminton, tennis, golf, bridge and curling. Her teammates from the Copper Cliff afternoon ladies curlers gave her a special end-of-season surprise - a big, delicious birthday cake and well wishes from all her friends - at the Copper Cliff Curling Club March 25.
