Check out Biggest Little Theatre Company’s production of Shrek: The Musical Jr., which runs Jan. 31 through Feb. 3 at the Dr. Edgar Leclair Community Centre in Azilda.

The Sudbury company is dedicated to providing a vibrant and inclusive theatrical experience for children.

This musical extravaganza promises to captivate audiences of all ages and showcase the immense talent of young performers from the Sudbury community.

Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in "Shrek Jr.," based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the fantastic Broadway musical.

It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favourite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, "Shrek Jr." is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.

Biggest Little Theatre Company, dedicated to fostering creativity and building confidence in young individuals, offers a unique program that is entirely free for kids to enroll. With a focus on fun and self-expression, Biggest Little Theatre Company has become a beacon for aspiring young actors aged six to 16.

The much-anticipated production of "Shrek Jr." features a talented cast of young performers who have poured their hearts into bringing the beloved characters to life on stage.

The show will be an enchanting blend of laughter, music, and imagination, showcasing the diversity of talent within the BLTC community.

In line with its commitment to accessibility, BLTC is thrilled to announce a special "pay-what-you-can" performance on Thursday, Feb. 1. This initiative ensures that every child in the community has the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre, regardless of financial constraints.

Avery Suchoplas, an 11-year-old participant in the production, shares her excitement about theatre.

"I enjoy theatre because I feel I can express myself,” she said. “Also, I love being able to play different roles and having a different personality every show. It is fun being another person other than yourself. Theatre is important for kids because they can express their creativity and find theatre friends too!"

Suchoplas continues, expressing her admiration for "Shrek Jr.," noting, "What I like about the show Shrek is that I think Biggest Little Theatre Company picked the perfect people for their roles. Another thing I like about the show are the songs, like 'Story of My Life,' 'Freak Flag,' and many others. My favourite part of the show is the marriage. I just find it so cute!"

As "Shrek Jr." takes centre stage, BLTC invites the community to join in the laughter, joy, and magic of live theatre. Save the date for a truly enchanting experience. For tickets and showtime information, visit www.bltcsudbury.com.
