Local stunt performer James Eddy stars in Ford web series

Sudbury-based stunt performer James Eddy is one of the stars of a promotional web series for Ford Motor Company.

Ford Mustang Limitless aims to further people in their careers, giving them “the potential to reach new heights by going one-on-one with leading artists, musicians, athletes and personalities,” the web series' website said.

Eddy, 32, said he was approached to participate in the project by a friend of a friend.
He did the film shoot in December, and the video was released last month. Along with Eddy, Ford Mustang Limitless also has videos featuring a photographer, surfer and musician.

“It's definitely nice when this kind of stuff comes to you,” said Eddy, who has performed in several northern-shot movies in recent years, including “The Masked Saint,” one of Cinéfest's 2014 gala films.

Driving a bright-red Mustang, Eddy is shown in the video meeting with a fitness instructor, an experienced stunt co-ordinator, and a talent agency, and performing a series of stunts.

Eddy said he got a lot out of the experience, including new headshots and a professionally shot stunt reel he can use in applying for work, as well as just getting his name out there.

Right now, Eddy still has a day job as a teacher with the Rainbow District School Board — his latest assignment is working with at-risk students at Sudbury Secondary School.

But Eddy, a Laurentian University outdoor adventure leadership graduate who has studied martial arts his whole life, said his ultimate goal is to make his living as a stunt performer.

He said he's had lots of positive response to the Ford Mustang Limitless video, including from those who work as stunt performers.

“I'm definitely happy,” Eddy said.
