Look who is singing American Pie

"Bye-bye, Miss American Pie. Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry. Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye Singin' 'This'll be the day that I die. This'll be the day that I die.

"Bye-bye, Miss American Pie.
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry.
Them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' 'This'll be the day that I die. This'll be the day that I die.'"

Everyone listening to the radio in the 1970s knew these words and sang along with Don McLean's American Pie.

Who is singing American Pie now? Would you believe Greater Sudbury Mayor John Rodriguez, Sudbury MPP Rick Bartolucci, The Havocs, Sudbury Secondary School students, and the Q92, EZRock and CIGM radio personalities!

American Pie - NLFB 2008 In preparation for Don McLean performing at this year's Northern Lights Festival Boréal, July 4, 5 and 6, Festival organizers and IceDrum Media's John Hartman prepared five short videos of the American Pie-singing victims and posted them to the popular video-sharing website YouTube.com. To see these YouTube clips go to www.nlfbsudbury.com , and while you are there check out the complete festival artistic line-up.

American Pie was inspired by McLean's memories of the death of Buddy Holly in 1959 and presents an abstract story of Don McLean's life from the mid-1950s until when he wrote the song in the late 1960s.

McLean followed up American Pie with hits such as with Vincent (Starry Starry Night), And I Love Her So, and Crying. McLean has released more than 20 albums, and has had more than 40 gold and platinum records worldwide. American Pie was voted the fifth greatest song of the 20th century by fans in the United States.
