Children's author and entertainer Robert Munsch performed for children at Glad Tidings Tabernacle during a "Storytelling Concert" Thursday evening, Oct. 9.

Munsch is known as one of Canada's best-selling authors of children's books, he almost took a different path and became a priest.

During his studies, he found that he enjoyed being around children at an orphanage, and left his studies to teach a kindergarten class. During this time, he made up his first story, "Mortimer," though it wouldn't be published for twelve years.

His first published work was "Mud Puddle," a story about a girl who was jumped on several times by a roving mud puddle. Her mother did not believe her until she, too, was muddied by the puddle.

Munsch uses real kids as characters in his books, and during his story telling, he has children from the audience help him act out some of the stories.

Munsch is a member of the Order of Canada and has a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. He has 42 books published including Smelly Socks, Moira's Birthday and Goodnight Moon. Love You Forever has sold over 18 million copies.
