The teams have been selected, and the competition to crown the best and most entertaining science teachers in Canada is set to begin. On Nov. 3 the Discovery Theatre at Science North will become the venue of the Iron Science Ontario Regional competitions from 11 am to 1:30 pm.
Alan Nursall, former Science Director of Science North and regular guest of the Discovery Channel, will host the event. Teams from Sudbury, Toronto and Brampton will take part, with the winners moving on to represent their region at the national Iron Science competition in Calgary on Nov. 22.

Iron Science is a Canada-wide challenge formatted similar to the Iron Chef television series. Four-person teams will endeavour to create spectacular and imaginative feats of science and engineering before a live audience. Just like the television show, the teams will also have to incorporate a "special ingredient" into their projects-one that could, with some modification of course, be used in an actual classroom.

The victorious team will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the national competition. Each team that makes it into the finals will also be awarded a SMART board interactive white board for their school.

The national competition will include regional winners from across the country. Jay Ingram, host of the popular Discovery Channel show Daily Planet will also moderate the national competition which will be streamed live over the internet at http://Discoverychannel.ca on Nov. 22 12 pm EST.
