Paintings by Sudbury's Kate Rutherford on display at Science North

Exhibit is part of Artists on Elgin's emerging artists program

If you happen to be at Science North over the next couple of months, check out the paintings on display in the sunwalk hallway leading out of the main lobby.

The space is used by Artists on Elgin for its emerging artist program.

The work of Sudburian Kate Rutherford — who in her other life is a local journalist — is currently on display in the space.

Her landscape paintings depict places where reality and imagination merge.

They originated in photos or memories of real places and she used abstraction on varying degrees to create new destinations that reflect some of her emotional landscape.

They are paintbrush meditations and escapes for a restless mind.

Rutherford's work will be on display until July.
