Are you tired of bargaining with your children/adolescents
just to get a little co-operation? Are you frustrated by their
lack of respect and unacceptable behaviours such as bullying
and argumentativeness? Then join the School Council at Sudbury
Secondary School for a talk by Ronald Morrish, author of
Secrets of Discipline, With All Due Respect, and Flip Tips.
All parents or guardians of school-aged children are invited to
this event, April 7, at 7 p.m. The free presentation will take
place in the Sheridan Auditorium at Sudbury Secondary School,
85 MacKenzie St.
Adults will gain practical strategies for teaching children and
adolescents to be responsible and co-operative. They will learn
how to discipline without all the deal making, arguments, and
confrontations.
Parents will also gain tips on understanding the adolescent
brain and adolescent issues, as Morrish focuses on positive,
proactive, productive discipline strategies leading to
co-operative, respectful behaviour.
Morrish is an expert on discipline and character development,
and has been an educator and behaviour specialist since 1972.
He was a teacher with the District School Board of Niagara in
St. Catharines for 26 years.
During that time, he taught regular education and special
education classes, was a learning resource teacher, and spent
16 years as the board's behaviour specialist.
Non-perishable food items will be accepted as donations to the
school's food bank. Refreshments will also be provided.
This event is being funded through a Parents Reaching Out Grant
provided by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
