City hosts the third annual Snow Day

If you drove past Bell Park this Saturday, you are sure to have witnessed a sea of snow pants, red noses and smiling faces bundled up for Snow Day.

This Saturday, the City of Greater Sudbury hosted the third annual Snow Day at Bell Park, which included skating, sliding, target snowball shooting, sweet treats and a children's play area. Storytelling was hosted both inside and outside by Kina Gbezhgomi Child & Family Services, who also contributed a fire pit to the frosty scene.

This free event was facilitated by the staff at Leisure Services, to encourage Sudburians to enjoy the great outdoors, rather than hide away from the snow and the cold, said Manager of Recreation, Cindy Dent. "It's really important that kids get out to play and stay off their screens, and that we encourage them to think of ways to be outside and enjoy it."

While this is the only Snow Day event of the season, Dent says the City is considering launching a similar event in the summer.
