Pinball Wizard? Theatre Cambrian auditioning for 'Tommy'

Limber up your fingers and stretch your vocal cords — Theatre Cambrian is holding auditions for The Who's award-winning rock opera "Tommy" next month.

Mark Mannisto, Theatre Cambrian's executive director, announced the audition dates Aug. 18.

“We are very excited to be producing 'Tommy' here at Theatre Cambrian,” said Mannisto. “Tommy is the original rock opera.”

Based on the iconic 1969 concept album, "Tommy" is tells the story of a pinball-playing, deaf, dumb and blind boy who triumphs over adversity. This five-time Tony Award-winning musical was translated to the stage by theatrical wizard Des McAnuff into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind theatrical event.

In addition to the awards the musical won, "Tommy" has earned six Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Musical, five Drama Desk Award nominations, and five Olivier Award nominations.
