Place des Arts is holding a press conference on the venue's future site on Larch Street in downtown Sudbury at 11 a.m. Thursday, where it's expected provincial funding for the project will be announced.

The event will be attended by Sudbury MPP and Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault. A logo for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation was included in the media advisory.

Last year, the City of Greater Sudbury approved $5 million for the downtown shared arts facility for local francophone organizations.

It's hoped the city funds will leverage provincial and federal grants for enough to build the $30 million facility.

Proponents hope to have shovels in the ground by the summer of 2018.
