Theatre Cambrian is treating Sudburians to a little summer fun with its dinner theatre production, Come back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.

The production runs July 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 at the Jubilee Centre, located at 195 Applegrove Street.

"We have recognized that the availability of live theatre in the summer months is very limited. Come Back to the 5 and Dime promises to be a dinner theatre unlike any that Theatre Cambrian has produced thus far," said executive director Mark Mannisto.

"We have strayed a bit from the usual slapstick farce that we normally produce and have chosen a script that allows all seven women in the cast an opportunity to let their true acting ability shine."

Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean takes place in a small-town dime store in West Texas.
The "Disciples of James Dean" gather for their twentieth reunion.

One of them, an extra in the film Giant, which starred Dean, has a child whom she says is the star's love child.

The ladies' congenial reminiscences mingle with flashbacks to their youth. Then the arrival of a stunning but familiar stranger sets off a series of confrontations that smash their delusions and expose bitter disappointments.

With a predominantly female cast, this production is full of homespun humour.

Tickets are $40 each and include a catered buffet by Diana's Catering.  Tickets are available at Records on Wheels, or by reservation at 524-7317. For more information visit www.theatrecambrian.ca .
