More than 400 cancer survivors with family members and
supporters will participate in the annual Canadian Cancer
Society Relay For Life.
One hundred and eighty teams will participate in the 12-hour
event which begins at 7 pm today (Friday) at the Laurentian
University track.
Organizers expect to raise $400,000, said Natalie
Rivard-Austin, fundraising co-ordinator.
A "survivor's victory lap" is one of the most emotional highlights. Later 7,000 candles will be lit to remember those who have died from cancer. Teams will then circle the track until the event concludes at 7 am Saturday.
