It is a sign of Christmas approaching.
The annual Santa Claus parade took place Saturday afternoon in the downtown, much to the delight of young and old alike.
Waves of gaily coloured floats came by, one after another, including those by Xstrata Nickel, Vale Inco and Northern Life.
The parade started at its usual marshalling area at Ste. Anne Rd. and Notre Dame Ave. traveling west on Elm St., down Durham St., across Larch St. and then down on Minto St.
There the procession of dancers and floats turned up Elgin St. in front of Northern Life. From there, it continued up Elgin St. back to its starting point.
The parade, one of the largest attended events in the city each year, ended up finishing at 7:30 p.m. Market Square hosted children's activities before and after the parade.
