Science North is hosting a number of holiday science camps from single evenings to sessions over several days.
For parents who need a break from children to shop there is Holiday Helpers Saturday Dec. 8 and 15. Drop off your child for a fun-filled Saturday of science activities from 10 am to 4 pm for ages four to 12 years. Children are split into appropriate age groups. Science North members pay $40 and the public $45 plus GST.
Parents who would like a night off for romance with their significant other can take advantage of monthly Date Nights with the first next Friday Dec. 14. Drop off your child, aged four to 12, at 6 pm for full science activities and hit the town until 10 pm.  Science North members pay $25 and the public $30 plus GST.
On Dec. 27 and 28, 9 am to 4 pm your child, six to 13 with two age groups, can play the new game MINEopoly at Dynamic Earth. It's a fun way to learn about geology, mining and mineral identification. Costs are $65 for members and $70 for non-members. Lunch is $12.
For the child who loves animals, Kinder Nature Holiday Camp, Jan. 2 to 4, 9 am-4 pm, treats participants to the wonderful world of animals from the perspective of the animals themselves. Costs for members are $90 and $100 for non-members.
The Canadian Space Agency Space Robotics Camp takes place Jan. 2 to 4, from 9 am to 4 pm with before and after care available. Your child, aged 10 to 13, will discover the fun in science and technology by using LEGO. Participants will learn to build and program LEGO NXT robots to solve Canadian Space Agency challenges. Science North members pay $120 and the public $135 plus GST. Lunch is $18.
