The main attraction at Science North this summer is our planet's most precious natural resource - water.

The new Science North productions -- the special exhibition WaterWorks:Soak up the Science! and the new IMAX® film Mysteries of the Great Lakes, highlight the importance of water in our everyday lives.

A flood of new water-themed events and activities is also coming your way. Science North is developing a series of Water Science Festivals, kicking off with a summer launch from June 28 to July 1. This event will focus on local water resources and engage participants in the science of the landscape around Science North.

"From June 28 to June 30 we'll be offering scheduled guided tours of Lily Creek, which are included with Science Centre admission," said Science North staff scientist, Bruce Doran.

"Everyone's going to be able to pick up a net and some binoculars, and explore a local wetland that's located right in our backyard! We'll examine the water, the organisms living in Lily Creek, and much more! Then we'll bring some of our samples back to Science North for further observations with microscopes!"

As part of the Water Science Festival, new Clean Water Workshops will be offered on Level 3. Visitors will have the opportunity to collect samples of water from Lily Creek and Ramsey Lake, observe invertebrates under microscopes or test water chemistry.
