The Theatre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) presents  their 29th amateur productin of Shakespeare's Le Songe d'une nuit d'ete (a Midsummer Night's Dream) from Jan. 28 to 31, and Feb. 4 to 7, at 8 p.m.

The play portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Athens, Theseus and Hippolyta, and with fairies who inhabit a moonlit forest.

The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular works for the stage and is widely performed around the world.

Thirty-six amateur actors from the Greater Sudbury area will take part in the production, under the direction of Miriam Cusson, with the support of other professional artists and creators.

"This will be one production that people won't want to miss," said Cusson, in a release.

"I discovered Le Songe d'une nuit d'ete when I was 14 and fell in love with the writing. I believe that we are providing the public with a good opportunity to discover Shakespeare's work."

Among the 36 amateur actors involved in the show, Marie-Paule Paquette will be participating in her 22nd consecutive amateur production at the TNO.

"When the TNO's amateur production rolls around, I forget about all my daily worries and enjoy working with other people who share my passion for the theatre," said Paquette.

For Genevieve Pineault, TNO's artistic director, the annual amateur production is one of the highlights of every season.

"Our spectators always look forward to this production in particular. They are eager to see what their friends and family members have been up to over the last few weeks and to see them perform. This production provides people with an opportunity to discover how theatre works, onstage and backstage," said Pineault.

The show plays at the TNO, 21 Lasalle Blvd. The theatre is connected to College Boreal. For ticket information call the TNO box office 525-5606 ext. 4 or visit www.leTNO.ca .
