On Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Howard Johnson Hotel, the "Sweetheart Sisters" had their official CD Launch entitled "Sweet Memories.

Music has kept the sisters - Evelyne Lefebvre, Diane Venne and Lucie Lamothe - together all of their lives and especially in hard times. Cancer became part of their lives when their father (who passed away last November) and  Venne were diagnosed with melanoma cancer both in the same year.  After going through two surgeries and one year of treatments, Venne is now in remission.

The sisters wanted to give back in recognition of the excellent care Venne received from doctors, nurses and staff at the Regional Cancer Program. The evening was filled with wonderful music, laughter, tears and joy.  It had been seven years since their last concert. The Sweetheart Sisters were joined by their brother Michel Lafreniere and Patricia Cano.

The release of their third CD is a big accomplishment, after the year the Sweetheart Sisters have endured. The CD can be purchased at the Northern Cancer Research Foundation at 523-4673 or online at www.sweetheartsisters.com . Proceeds from the sale of the CD are designated to Northern Cancer Research Foundation Supportive Care Program.

The Northern Cancer Research Foundation raises needed funds for continued leading-edge cancer research and progressive patient care in the North. Every dollar donated stays in the North to benefit the Regional Cancer Program. The NCRF provides critical support for purchasing new equipment, patient care and research, all of which enables the Regional Cancer Program to give patients the best care possible.
