The Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Branch has launched a new fundraising initiative that offers animal lovers a unique way to honour the loss of a special animal in their life - the chance to place their pet "among the stars."
A mural of a cat and dog looking up at the night sky has been painted on one wall of the branch's adoption centre with the inscription: "Paws to remember: In memory of our beloved pets who have taken their place among the stars." Adoption centre staff are hoping supporters will brighten the empty sky by purchasing Ontario SPCA stars to celebrate the joy of special animals that have touched their lives.
The names of honoured animals will be engraved on gold and silver stars that sell for $50 and $35. The stars will remain on the mural for one year with the option to renew.
"Our community has many devoted and caring animal lovers," said Ontario SPCA Sudbury & District Branch Manager Al Bentley. "The memorial wall is one way that our supporters can share their love for animals who have touched their lives, and also support the animals in our community who need a helping hand. The wall is dedicated to the joy that all animals bring to our lives."
