The devoted followers and standard-bearers of the Starshit enterprise – a fictitious coffee chain – portray a satire of complete corporate commitment at the TNO Oct. 19-21.

Working at Starshit is more than just part-time employment — it's a privilege, an almost-religion, a lifestyle as part of a “blended family” and a passion for all things coffee.

This upbeat, quick-off-the-mark theatre production takes place at a Starshit located in Montreal. Four minimum-wage employees try their absolute hardest to offer a top-of-the-line service to their precious clientele and please their beloved employer.

As a matter of fact, they chant it loud and clear: "Un café, un pilier!"(“A coffee, a pillar!”) or "On est les MEILLEURS! On va le RESTER!" (“We are the BEST! And we will STAY THAT WAY!”).

This cheeky performance incites reflection on our performance-driven society and on the indoctrination of large corporations. Starshit is co-produced by the Théâtre du Tandem and the Théâtre en Quec’ Part, both companies founded by individuals originally from Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Anglophones can check out the performance thanks to subtitles Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
