YES Theatre/STC held a “Broadway star-studded” gala fundraiser Sept. 29.
A press release said the gala presented “the opportunity for patrons to get behind the curtain and experience the theatre like never before.”
The event was a combination of a dinner catered by the Caruso Club, concert, art installation, silent auction and more.
The concert featured some of Broadway’s best including Stephen Anthony (“Book of Mormon”, “Dear Evan Hansen”), Sara Farb (“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”) and Garret Healey (“Dear Evan Hansen”).
“Think of going to a party at Great Gatsby's house — only his house is a theatre, and the party ranges from sitting and taking in music to exploring the stage, shops, lounge - pockets of the theatre you never knew existed,” Alessandro Costantini, artistic and managing director of the theatre companies, described the event.
“We want people to really see the guts of this glorious old building that we really love and are working to sustain and elevate. You’ll be fed... There will be music... prepare to experience the theatre like never before. The theatre is no longer in survival mode. The support of the community and fundraising initiatives are now to support the vibrant cultural legacy that we’re creating in this community.”
