The Sudbury Branch of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)  will be holding their 9th annual Strokes for Furry Folks golf tournament on June 28.

All funds raised will stay in Sudbury to help the animals at the Sudbury SPCA.  In 2008 alone, the Sudbury Branch adopted out over 500 homeless animals and responded to hundreds of animal cruelty complaints including investigating one of the largest puppy mills ever found in Northern Ontario.

“This is a fun way for people in Sudbury to help the animals,” says Peggy Byers, Sudbury SPCA Manager.  “We also have hole sponsorships available for only $50, if you’d like to get your name out there.”

This fundraiser tournament will be held at Pine Grove golf course with dinner to follow at Buzzy Brown’s Brasserie, who is sponsoring the event.

The entry fee is $50 a person or $200 per team of four. This entry fee includes: a nine hole best ball tournament, power cart(s), prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin, dinner at Buzzy’s and prizes for all golfers. The event, which is a shotgun tournament, begins at 1:30pm.

This is an opportunity for you and your friends, family and colleagues to enjoy the game of golf and help support your local SPCA and the animals in the community and surrounding areas said the SPCA in a release.

To register your team or for more information, call Valerie Graham at 522-4983, Pam Stewart- Burgoyne at 521-0693, Peggy Byers at 566-9582, or Linda Morgan at 560-9271.
